## Issues Hosting SAP Business One on your own on premise server:

When hosting SAP business one on premise we get the flexibility to install third party apps alongside the SAP B1 system and connect directly to the data source in Microsoft SQL Server using powerful reporting and data management tools like Power BI and Excel. Additionally SAP business one's fantastic data transformation tool allows us to manipulate data externally and post back into the database directly without the need for custom screens to be written.

The main drawback comes from the cost upgrading the hardware systems if usage grows and the expensive day rate for chargeable time from SAP business one resellers should the services be required as part of an upgrade. Typically, once businesses feel the benefits of having the SAP B1 ERP available, its use and demand grows exponentially. This means that IT is faced with an almost impossible task of trying to predict in advance suitable hardware that will see the client through the five-year average lifespan of a server. Quite frequently it does mean the business spends too much initially.

1. We have no option to fully control the system and hardware deployment and adjust this overtime to see our needs.

2. As don't have full control the infrastructure so cannot install our other line of business applications on to the same servers.

3. Because the system is isolated it cannot be integrated fully into the other company systems such as our Microsoft 365 Tenant, Entra ID or (Azure Active Directory)


4.Uses a separate backup system away from our main one and we are relying on a third party to handle this resulting in segregated disaster recovery plan that is difficult to test.
