## Migrate SAP Business to Azure Cloud
777 Networks have a long history providing traditional on-premises server infrastructure for our clients using SAP Business One deployments and in more recent years we have become the UK’s leading expert MSP offering SAP B1 Azure Cloud Migration services.
## SAP Business One is an integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution
SAP Business One is designed specifically for small to mid-sized businesses that benefits greatly from an Azure Cloud Migration. SAP B1 is a versatile product with integrated modules that cover the below key areas:
- Financial Management
- Sales and Customer Management
- Purchasing and Inventory Control
- Production Planning
- Business Intelligence
- Project Management
- Mobility
Prior to us offering SAP Business One Azure Cloud Migration as a service the two main deployment options were:
1. **On-Premise:** Installed locally on the company’s own servers, offering full control over data and infrastructure.
2. **SAP Cloud:** Hosted on SAP's cloud infrastructure, providing flexibility, reduced IT costs, and enhanced security.
Both of these deployment options have major drawbacks:
## Issues Hosting SAP Business One on your own on premise server:
When hosting SAP business one on premise we get the flexibility to install third party apps alongside the SAP B1 system and connect directly to the data source in Microsoft SQL Server using powerful reporting and data management tools like Power BI and Excel. Additionally SAP business one's fantastic data transformation tool allows us to manipulate data externally and post back into the database directly without the need for custom screens to be written.
The main drawback comes from the cost upgrading the hardware systems if usage grows and the expensive day rate for chargeable time from SAP business one resellers should the services be required as part of an upgrade. Typically, once businesses feel the benefits of having the SAP B1 ERP available, its use and demand grows exponentially. This means that IT is faced with an almost impossible task of trying to predict in advance suitable hardware that will see the client through the five-year average lifespan of a server. Quite frequently it does mean the business spends too much initially.
The second is issue is that an on premise hosted SAP Business One suffers the same limitations as most server room based Line Of Business (LOB) applications:
1. They rely on office-based Internet connection and resilient options are expensive
2. Good server hardware redundancy and resilience is very expensive and for most companies at the SME level cost prohibitive.
3. Secure Remote access for mobile users present both security and performance issues.
## Issues Hosting SAP Business One SAP’s own Cloud:
The main issue with hosting SAP business one in SAP's own cloud is that the system is isolated and away from our other corporate infrastructure, this has the following drawbacks:
1. We have no option to fully control the system and hardware deployment and adjust this overtime to see our needs.
2. As don't have full control the infrastructure so cannot install our other line of business applications on to the same servers.
3. Because the system is isolated it cannot be integrated fully into the other company systems such as our Microsoft 365 Tenant, Entra ID or (Azure Active Directory)
4.Uses a separate backup system away from our main one and we are relying on a third party to handle this resulting in segregated disaster recovery plan that is difficult to test.
By leveraging the Microsoft Azure platform Cloudified Systems have been able to design a SAP Business One deployment solution that eliminates all of the inherent problems described above while delivering the following benefits:
- A single standardised backup and disaster recovery solution encompassing the cloud hosted SAP B1 ERP system alongside all other line of business applications.
- High performance servers with instant enhancements and upgrades possible with zero additional SAP consultancy hours needed.
- Big Corporate High availability and resilience options delivered at low cost with redundancy capabilities far exceeding those possible for SME’s wth traditional server infrastructure.
- Standardised World leading security feature set deployed to all employees and system users whether office based or ultra mobile and accessing systems over 4G and 5G connections.
